Blended learning pertains to the time domain of instructional delivery, as in a blend of face-to-face learning with a teacher and using technology to work independently or in a group away from the teacher, while hybrid learning is about the space domain, a hybrid of on-site and off-site learning. Flipped learning is a "hybrid blended" mode, as I refer to it, where students learn new content off-site and utilize low-order thinking skills (LOTS), and then they join their teacher and peers on-site to use high-order thinking skills (HOTS). Online learning refers to an off-site asynchronous learning mode usually done with self-paced learning modules in a learning management system (LMS), a popular option for adult learners wanting to maintain full-time jobs and family lives.
